Australia Aborigines want mining royalties

Indigenous groups say they are entitled to millions of dollars in compensation as new mines open on ancestral land.

The Fortescue Metals Group digs up billions of dollars worth of iron ore in Australia each year, but Aborigines who have lived on the land for thousands of years say they are not getting their share.

Negotiations between the two sides have broken down over the amount of royalties the Yindjibarndi group should receive.
