CAR in grip of fear and violence

Interim leader asks international community to help stop the sectarian violence that is spreading through her country.

The new interim president of the Central African Republic, Catherine Samba-Panza, has pledged to end the religious violence that threatens to tear the country apart.

But she says she needs the help of the international community to help stabilise her country, as UN officials warn that tensions threaten to cross the tipping-point into “all-out sectarian conflict”.

The fear and violence is spreading, as Al Jazeera’s Barnaby Phillips found out on a road trip through the countryside.
