UN-backed DR Congo force launches offensive

Troops moving into positions held by an alliance of rebel groups in eastern Congo since mid-2000s.

The United Nations backed forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo have launched an offensive against rebel group ADF.

The troops are moving into positions held by an alliance of rebel groups who have operated in eastern Congo since the mid-2000s.

The army is using heavy weaponry to drive the rebels out.
