Afghans make money from leftover war tools
The war machine in Afghanistan is being broken down and sold in a business that is now worth multi-million dollars.

The industry of buying and selling scrap from former foreign military bases has become a multi-million dollar one in Kandahar, employing thousands of local people.
Scrap dealers comb Kandahar Air Base, which was once a major US military facility for years, in search for equipment which they can sell for cash.
The treasure hunt is not always profitable, however, since most of what remains was intentionally shredded and ruined by its original owners, the Americans, in fear that it may be used for making bombs.
