In the United States, marijuana use is becoming tolerated in areas where it was once criminalised.
Several states have legalised recreational use and more than a dozen allow it for medicinal purposes.
But in California, the increased demand is putting a heavy burden on the environment as mass production destroys the fragile ecosystem.
Al Jazeera’s Rob Reynolds reports from Eureka, California.
