S Korean scientists turn sugar into petrol

Bacteria helps researchers to produce petrol in lab, but it will take years before it reaches fuel pumps.

Think of E. Coli and your next thought is probably – food poisoning – but scientists in South Korea want you to think of fuel.

They have worked out how to use the bacteria to turn sugar into petrol, but they admit it will take years more research before their fuel makes it from lab beakers to petrol pump.
