‘Lenient’ rape verdict angers US state

Large protests have erupted in the US state of Montana over the “lenient” verdict given to a school teacher, who is set to be released on Thursday after serving just one month in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl.
The judge who sentenced Stacey Rambold, 54, for the 2007 rape of Cherice Moralaz, who committed suicide as the sexual-assault trial was under way, is facing calls from activists to step down from his post.
