Thirty months of Syria violence

Al Jazeera looks back at how the Syrian uprising developed, from protests to full-fledged civil war.

The uprising in Syria began in March 2011, when protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against corruption and demanding an end to emergency law.

Thirty months later, the country is engulfed in a full-scale civil war, with atrocities committed by both sides.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Simmons reports.
