DRC villagers pushed off their land

Residents return to village they had fled to find their land had been usurped by member of local militia.

Kachiri village of Democratic Republic of Congo in the eastern district of Masisis is a shadow of what it used to be.

When rebels and government forces began to fight here, residents fled to a camp. After three years, they returned, to find their land had gone.

It now belongs to a powerful member of a local militia who says he bought it legally.

Al Jazeera’s Peter Greste reports Masis.
