Air strike kills dozens in Syria’s Latakia

Decision seen as President Assad’s effort to reassert authority in heartland of his minority Alawite sect.

Dozens of people have been killed in a military air strike in the northwestern Syrian province of Latakia.

It is believed to be part of President Bashar al Assad’s attempt to reassert authority in the traditional heartland of his minority Alawite sect.
