Asylum seekers top Australia poll agenda
Protesters rally for migrant rights, but tough ‘boat-people’ policy proves popular in political party polling.

Rallies have been held across Australia to highlight the plight of asylum seekers, as the issue has become a hot topic ahead of next month’s general election.
Al Jazeera’s Andrew Thomas spoke to people in Sydney about why the issue mattered to them, and then travelled to Christmas Island where many migrants are detained after trying to get to Australia by boat.
