Syria’s deputy foreign minister has warned the rebels that the army was coming for them, as the regime forces intensified their offensive against the opposition fighters.
The government forces have been advancing north of the country aiming to establish control of the city of Aleppo, buoyed by the recent victories in al-Qusayr and Qaryatain and the continuing assault on Homs.
Faisal Mekdad told to British newspaper, The Independent, that the US decision to directly arm some rebel groups would not pay off.
However, the rebels are also preparing their defence.
