Shale drilling threatens Argentina’s Mapuche
Indigenous tribe fear effect on their lives and environment if energy companies return to exploit their land.

Argentina has the fourth largest shale reservoir according to a recent study by the US energy department.
Sitting above the Neuquen basin in Patagonia, the area was once exploited for oil during the 1990s boom.
Now, the Mapuche, an indigenous tribe, say they do not want energy companies back on their land.
