Rising health risks at Jordanian refugee camp

Unhygienic practices and approaching summer mean 170,000 Syrians at Al-Zaatari camp face grim outlook.

Syrian refugees at Jordan’s Al-Zaatari camp are increasingly susceptible to health risks, with the onset on summer and amid overcrowding and unhygienic practises.

Home to about 170,000 refugees from Syria, poor sanitation increases the ease of contracting certain illnesses.

Doctors say among the top health issues are diarrhoea, constipation, hepatitis and malnutrition.

Al Jazeera’s Nisreen El-Shamayleh reports from the Al-Zaatari camp.
