Syrians struggle to cope with displacement

Many new arrivals forced to sleep out in the open in refugee camps as the country sees surge in people fleeing violence.

Refugee camps inside Syria are struggling to cope with an increase of people fleeing the violence.

Up to 26,000 people now live in camps in Atmeh, in the country’s northwest, under the control of anti-government forces.

Ten thousand refugees appeared in the last two months alone. The new arrivals in the camps, along Syria’s border with Turkey, are often forced to sleep out in the open.

Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports.
