Manila mayor candidates command little faith
Philippine critics say candidates unlikely to fix problems in once-prosperous city.

Candidates have been campaigning in Manila for mayoral elections set to take place next month.
Yet, the Philippine capital has been more in news for the rise in crime and decay of urban life than for wealth-creation and sophistication.
Critics say populist politicians do not offer much hope for the city, which once boasted itself as the “Pearl of the Orient”.
Al Jazeera’s Jamela Alindogan reports from Manila.
