Dutch welcome first king in 123 years
Prince Willem-Alexander to succeed Queen Beatrix who abdicated after 33 years on the throne.

The Netherlands is getting ready for its first king in 123 years after Queen Beatrix abdicated after 33 years on the throne.
Prince Willem-Alexander will take over the throne on April 30th, the country’s traditional celebratory Queen’s Day, which from now on will be renamed King’s Day.
