Billionaire wins S Korean parliamentary seat
Ex-presidential candidate to become member of the national assembly in northern Seoul district.

Former presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo has upset South Korean politics by securing a surprise by-election win to the national assembly.
Last year, this doctor-turned-software-billionaire-turned-professor was a political sensation. His promise of “new politics” became appealing especially to frustrated younger voters.
Ahn could now form his own party, changing a landscape long-dominated by one liberal and one conservative force.
