The sea has swelled and shrank over Earth’s long history shorelines have marched forward and back.

Monday was Earth Day, a day designed to raise awareness of environmental challenges around the world, among them: rising sea levels.
One major city threatened by higher tides is Los Angeles.
That means combating climate change.
And failure to do so may put major cities in jeopardy.
