Venezuela’s presidential race kicks off

At stake is late Hugo Chavez’s legacy and the future of his socialist policies that have helped reduce poverty.

Campaigning is set to begin for Venezuela’s upcoming presidential election, a month after the death of Hugo Chavez.

His chosen successor Nicolas Maduro has vowed to honour the late president’s socialist legacy.

However, he could face a strong challenge from opposition candidate Henrique Capriles.
