S Korea island unfazed by North’s threats

Locals on South Korean border island of Baengnyong try to stay upbeat as tensions continue to escalate.

Tourism in South Korea’s border island of Baengnyong has plummeted as tensions continue to rise on the Korean peninsula.

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un has said, in the event of a war, artillery units would engulf Baengnyong in flames.

Many island residents, however, have said they do not think the threats will become a reality.

Al Jazeera’s Harry Fawcett reports from Baengnyong Island.
