The United States throws away $165bn worth of food each year, according to some estimates.
Now, a group of retired people are trying to use some of that unwanted food to help the poor.
They volunteer at Senior Gleaners in Sacramento, California. The organisation collects unused vegetables from farms, groceries that are nearing their expiration date, and bread that is a day old.
