New media laws worry Myanmar journalists

A press council was set up last year in Myanmar to write a new media law with the backing of the government.

That body now appears to have been sidelined by the government’s plan to devise its own legislation.

The move has left journalists and publishers feeling that they have already lost some short-lived freedom.
