SARS outbreak taught new lessons

Decade after disease was first reported, scientists say virus behind the outbreak is well-contained.

It has been 10 years since the first outbreak of SARS was reported in China.

The virus spread around the world, infecting more than 8,000 people and killing hundreds of them.

Scientists believe that the virus has been well contained. They say the procedures learned during the medical emergency have since helped stop potential outbreaks caused by other viruses.

Al Jazeera’s Steve Chao reports from Hong Kong, where the virus was discovered.
