American cinematic history threatened

Nearly eleven thousand movies were made during the golden age of American silent film.

A golden era in the history of Hollywood could be in danger of dying out forever.
 
Archivists say the majority of silent films have been lost or damaged beyond repair.
 
It means one day stars like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin may be unknown to future generations.
