‘Tax meter’ climbing steadily in Brazil

From eating out to buying video games, everything is more expensive in the country, where taxes are sky high.

Brazilians pay some of the highest taxes in the world – a pill residents are finding increasingly hard to swallow, with little done to improve the country’s poor public education and crowded transportation systems.

In downtown Sao Paulo, a “tax meter” shows that this year alone, Brazilians have paid more than $550bn in taxes.
