South Africa politics still divided by race

Many Western Cape residents of mixed race say they will not vote for Nelson Mandela’s ANC party in the next elections.

The first election in South Africa since the death of Nelson Mandela will be held next April.

Most people of mixed race in the Western Cape will not be voting for his African National Congress Party. They are instead loyal to the mostly-white Democratic Alliance.

Many still define themselves as coloured, which is an old apartheid label, demonstrating how race still divides politics in the country.
