Childbirth risks high in Bangladesh

Scarce resources means three out of four mothers give birth at home, putting women’s lives at risk during childbirth.

Bangladesh has among the highest rates of maternal mortality in the world.

One in 500 women die during pregnancy or child birth, and in some areas that number is the double.

Most of the deaths are preventable, but even the most basic resources are often scarce, with three out of four women giving birth at home.
