France prepares to withdraw Mali troops
Fighting continues in Mali between the army and al-Qaeda fighters as foreign troops prepare to withdraw.

France is preparing to pull many of its troops out of Mali after a campaign against al-Qaeda linked groups there.
Two thousand of the 3,000 soldiers it deployed are supposed to return home by the end of January, but fighting has not siezed in Mali.
