California bans lead ammunition for the birds

The new law has garnered tough opposition from gun enthusiasts, but wildlife experts say it is a lifesaver for the bird.

The California Condor has survived many threats during its 12,000 years of existence, but today, nature’s largest land bird may be facing its greatest threat yet: Lead ammunition found in carcasses the scavenger bird feeds on.

California’s governor has recently taken the controversial step to ban lead ammunition.
