Canada-US pipeline project meets resistance

Plans to transport oil from Canada to the US are meeting increased resistance in light of health and safety concerns.

The Keystone XL pipeline is one of the most controversial projects of 2014.

It is due to run from Hardisty, Alberta and extend almost 2 thousand kilometres across the US-Canadian border to Steele city Nebraska.

And then on to East Texas – where the southern leg of the pipeline is set to become operational in January.

Al Jazeera’s Andy Gallacher reports from East Texas.
