A return to Nelson Mandela’s roots
As tens of thousands of South Africans say good bye to the former president, memories abound in his birthplace of Qunu.

The world will watch this weekend as anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela is brought to his final resting spot in the village of Qunu, the same place where he started life.
Here, the young Mandela practised stick-fighting with wooden branches, a pastime that remains popular in rural South Africa.
He hated to be beaten, and this same determination would carry him through the rest of his life.
