Gaza residents strive to keep lights on

Gaza is facing a power crisis as a result of a shortage of fuel, with blackouts lasting 12 to 16 hours a day.

With power cuts every day in Gaza because of a major fuel shortage, residents are adapting and doing whatever they can to keep the lights on.

In an attempt to generate power for daily life usage, residents resort to car batteries, solar panels and other means.

Al Jazeera’s Phil Lavelle reports.
