Fishermen from Indonesia stranded in S Africa

Men say they were treated as slaves by their boat owners who abandoned them without paying their wages.

Three months ago, seven fishing trawlers carrying 75 Indonesian workers were intercepted and impounded by officials in Cape Town for fishing illegally in South African waters.

The men say they spent nearly a year at sea, were mistreated and not paid their salaries of about $100 a month. The owners of the seven fishing vessels got away.
