Chile’s German immigrants try to erase past
Various abuses occurred under the nose of the state in colony established by ex-Nazi paramedic more than 50 years ago.

The Dignity Colony, as it was once called, was set up in 1962 by a former Nazi paramedic and self-proclaimed preacher named Paul Schaefer.
Murder, torture, forced labour and sex abuse occurred inside the colony under the nose of the Chilean state.
Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman visited the colony in Parral, Chile.
