Iran fights dwindling birth rates
Government scraps family planning in effort to encourage couples to have children as birth rate drops to one percent.

Iran is facing a crisis: its population is ageing and the country’s birth rate has dropped to one percent. The government says the situation is a threat to national security and the economy.
It has now scrapped family planning and increased money for new marriages in an effort to get its citizens to procreate. But that encouragement is largely being ignored.
Al Jazeera’s Soraya Lennie reports from Tehran.
