Nigeria’s ruling party splits after 15 years

A breakup of Nigeria’s ruling party could bring more political dynamism to the country.

The break-up of Nigeria’s ruling party, which is headed by President Goodluck Jonathan, is big news.

The People’s Democratic Party has ruled uninterrupted for nearly 15 year, essentially turning Nigeria into a one-party state.

Collapse of the ruling party could bring new opposition groups and variety to the political arena.
