Migrants risk their lives to reach Yemen

Every year thousands of desperate migrants risk their lives on a dangerous sea journey to Yemen.

The UN says more than half a million people from Ethiopia and Somalia have travelled by sea to Yemen since 2006.

Many hope to escape difficult situations at home, and travel through Yemen to Gulf States and beyond. But it’s a journey riddled with danger and many die before reaching their destination.

The northeastern Somali port of Bossaso is where the migrants meet the people-smugglers and start their journey.

Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Adow travelled there to hear their stories.
