Nicaragua president pushes for unlimited term

Daniel Ortega’s proposal for indefinite presidential terms is expected to pass a National Assembly vote next month.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega wants to end limits on presidential terms, and he’ll have to change the constitution to do it.

His opponents say the move would be a dangerous power grab.

But Ortega’s party has an overwhelming majority in the government, and the proposal is likely to pass when it comes to a vote in the National Assembly in December.
