Education falters amid conflict in CAR

Children struggle to attend classes in Central African Republic as schools lack resources and trained staff.

For millions of children in the Central African Republic, a decent education is the only chance of escaping poverty.

But since rebels took over the capital last year, many haven’t been able to go to school.

There are not enough teachers in the country and more than half of staff do not have the proper qualifications. Most schools lack basic resources, like textbooks and pens.
