Tarun Tejpal is one of India’s best-known investigative journalists, famous for exposing corruption and championing human-rights issues.
But Tejpal now finds himself accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague. The alleged victim has not made an official complaint to police, but reportedly complained to Shoma Chaudhury, managing editor of Tejpal’s muck-raking magazine Tehelka
In a leaked email to Chaudhury, Tejpal said “an awful misreading of the situation has led to an unfortunate incident”.
Indian police have launched a preliminary inquiry into the allegations.
