Selfie is Oxford word of the year

Selfie or digital self-portrait first appeared in 2002, but since then it has gained widespread popularity.

The word ‘selfie’ has become the 2013 Oxford Dictionaries word of the year.

The term ‘selfie’ or digital self-portrait first appeared in an online Australian forum in 2002.

Since then it has become so popular that it has found its way into everyday speech and marking unique events.
