Georgia set to swear in new president

Giorgi Margvelashvili’s inauguration will end almost decade-long presidency of Western ally, Mikheil Saakashvili.

Georgia’s new President Georgi Margvelashvili will be sworn into office on Sunday after winning overwhelming victory in last month’s presidential election.

The man he is replacing, Mikheil Saakashvili, led Georgia through a revolution and into the modern state it is now.
