Interactive: Mapping damage in Philippines

Volunteers have tagged thousands of social media images to online maps and rated typhoon damage to assist aid efforts.

Philippines relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, known as Yolanda by Filipinos, have been boosted by a “crowdsourcing” initiative with digital helpers from around the world.

Online volunteers have mapped where the worst affected areas are and rated the level of damage on the website,  MicroMappers Image Clicker .

The online crowdsourcing organisation, the  Standby Volunteer Task Force , has worked with the global humanitarian relief group GISCorps and the database organisation  ESRI  to create the below map.
