Better techniques give boost to production but weaning farmers away from lucrative poppy crop remains uphill battle.

Agriculture makes up a third of Afghan output and employs more than half of the population, and now better farming techniques are giving a boost to production. But weaning farmers away from poppy – the preferred export item – is still an uphill battle.
