Children visit jailed Palestinian relatives

Adult family members of at least a third of detainees do not receive permits to visit their loved ones in Israeli jails.

About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli prisons. But adult relatives of more than a third of these prisoners do not receive permits to visit their loved ones.

That means often only detainees’ children are allowed into the prisons, and they must make the day-long trip alone.

Al Jazeera’s Nisreen El-Shamayleh reports from one of those trips.
