UN to boost security presence in CAR

Security Council approves troop deployment to protect UN staff amid tensions in landlocked African country.

The UN Security Council has given the go-ahead for troops to go into Central African Republic to protect a UN political mission there. The landlocked, mineral-rich nation has been mired in chaos since rebels seized the capital in March. The move may be the start of a much larger peace-keeping operation.
