Deadly wasp attacks plague China province

Authorities launch drive to destory nests after dozens die and more than 1,600 are injured in Shaanxi province.

At least 41 people have been killed and more than 1,600 injured in a surge of wasp attacks in China’s northwestern Shaanxi province in the last two months, state media has reported.

Hospitals have seen an influx of patients suffering from severe stings after being attacked, sometimes by swarms.

The government has sent pest control officers to destroy hundreds of nests in Shaanxi province.
