Acid attacks in India under the spotlight

Victims say government not doing enough despite occurrence yearly of an estimated thousand incidents targeting women.

Acid attacks have been in the spotlight in India in recent weeks. A teenage girl in Mumbai was forced to drink acid before being thrown into the sea.

She was attacked during a family dispute on the day she got engaged to be married.

It is estimated that a thousand incidents of acid attack against women happen every year in India.

Several victims say the government is not doing enough to prevent such incidents.
