Economic woes challenge Venezuela’s president
Six months into his presidency, Nicolas Maduro faces inflation running at nearly 50 percent and hard-currency shortages.

Six months into the job and Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro is blaming economic sabotage for the country’s problems, including inflation running at nearly 50 percent and shortages of hard currency.
To deal with this crisis, he is now asking lawmakers to grant him special powers to pass laws unilaterally.
But that is being disputed even by some of his own supporters.
